We went out for our 7th Anniversary (Technically Monday) tonight. Though our babysitter cancelled, at least we have great friends who step up at the last minute! Thanks John and Kate!

We ate at a new Farm to Table restaurant called Johannes that’s very near our home. It was really good food. I thought it could have been quicker since it was empty. But it nailed it where it matters, the food.

Then we went to see Star Trek: Into Darkness and solidified our standing as Not-Trekkies, because we both really enjoyed it. It may have something to do with neither of us having seen the Wrath of Khan.

Day 213

Triptych by Gr8hucker

This is a really quick attempt at another triptych. I didn’t have any time to really plan it, he was just running around, climbing the wall, rinsing and repeating, so I thought it would be a good one.

I know that he’s not reading in the video, but I still think it’s pretty amazing that he knows the entire book that well!

Day 212

Ender and Jim by Gr8hucker

This is our neighbor Jim. He’s turning 85 on Sunday, and he’s often sitting out on his porch smoking cigarettes and enjoying the usually beautiful North Carolina weather. Such a common sight is this, that I think Ender’s first complete sentence was “Jim’s not there.”

Ender really likes to visit with him, and asks to go say hello whenever he sees him out there. Sometimes we sit for an hour talking, and Ender still enjoys it. Today he asked to sit on Jim’s lap, which was pretty amazing. I just wish this picture wasn’t so dark.

Riding Cheerio by Gr8hucker

With a smile like this, I think we have riding lessons in our future. Thanks to Forsyth Family Magazine and Cash Lovell Stables and Riding Academy Ender got his first ever ride on a horse.

This morning, I told him we were going to a place where he might get to ride on a horse and he said: “I’ll be a cowboy!” As he was riding he started saying “yeehaw” which was incredibly funny and wonderful. I’m honestly surprised that he was so fearless, and had such an incredible time.

This reaction is priceless!
